DigiClock Help

Before reading, keep this in mind:

I'm also using my widget on a Nexus One, if it sucked, i'd fix it. Problems that seem like a HUGE bug, are probably not, because otherwise it would be unusable, even for me.

What went wrong?

I can't add the widget to my phone

Its small ( 1x1 ) and doesn't update

It lags behind time

Every time i restart my phone, it changes back to 24 ( or 12 ) hour mode

How do i change the theme

How do i change what launches when i tap on it

I have an HTC Tattoo or am running a custom Home screen or ROM

The date formatter isn't working for me

It uses up my battery quicker

None of this helps!

How can i contact the developer

I want to pay you for this amazing widget

Find an empty 2x1 spot on your home screen. Long press the empty spot until a menu pops up. Tap Widget and then select DigiClock Widget from the menu. Do not add a shortcut to the DigiClock Settings app to your home screen, this is not the actual clock.

It lags behind time
You probably have a Task manager such as EStrongs Task Manager, Toggle Settings, Free Task Manager, Advanced Task manager, etc. Please open your task manager and add the DigiClock widget to the ignore list. If a task manager kills the widget, it cannot keep time, and so you need to do this. Worst case that you've already killed it, remove from your homescreen and add it again ( see add. All Android Digital Clock widgets have exactly the same problem ( just look through their comments! ), so this is a known issue. As a developer, there is no simple solution, because the task managers can do what they like.

If you use Cyanogen or other custom roms, there's a great chance it'll lag behind time. There's something about Cyanogen that kills background services more aggressively. I've contacted him without reply, and since there are no emulators available for his rom and i don't want to root my phone, there is nothing i can do.

Every time i restart my phone, it changes back to 24 (or 12) hour mode
You probably added the 24 hour widget to the homescreen and then set it to 12 hour in the settings. You need to remove the widget from your home screen ( long press on the widget, and drag to the bin ), and add the correct one again. This is a known bug and will probably be fixed in 4.0.

How do i change the theme or
How do i change what launches when i tap on it

In your phone's application list, a new app has been installed called DigiClock settings. This contains options including the ability to change your Theme, choose the Tap Launches feature, and modify the date format ( this is still under development ).

I have an HTC Tattoo or am running a custom Home screen or ROM
There is a known layout issue with the HTC Tattoo. I have reported the bug to HTC and their official feedback may or may not mean that they are fixing it. I will keep everyone posted about what happens. For now, the new Solid themes and onward will work on the Tattoo. I cannot guarantee compatibility with custom roms and home screens as i cannot test them in the emulator and only have access to a T-Mobile G1 which has not been rooted and is my personal phone. The date formatter isn't working for me
Clicking Update will only update the text at the top of the formatter for now. You need to change your date format ( it'll look something like yy/mm/dd and NOT 2009/06/22 ), and then click Save. Now when you go back to you're clock on the homescreen, the date will update. It's meant for advanced users and is VERY HEAVILY IN BETA. The feature was only released because people kept asking for it while i was still working on it, and those people are now pretty happy!

It uses up my battery quicker
Short answer, no, it doesn't. At least not relative to other clock widgets in the market. I've had users tell me that i'm using up to 50% less battery than other widgets on the market, and with every update i try and do something to improve that. If you feel after an update it uses more battery, make sure you haven't changed something else like the screen brightness ( a real battery killer ), installed another app that does a heavy background update, or updated an application that is now doing more background work.

None of this helps!

On the side menu of this site click Contact. You can also contact me directly from the Android market by "Sending an email to the developer" from where you download the app.

I want to pay you for this amazing widget
Excellent! I really appreciate all the help i can get, it's not easy maintaining even something this small. All donations will be used to fuel my tech habit and the moment i have enough i will buy myself either a Moto Droid Pro, Samsung Galaxy Tab, or any other new kewl device. Every cent helps!
To donate, click Kit me up! or get the Donate version of the widget from the market for 1,50 euro. It's not much to ask for, but anything to feed my tech addiction helps! :D
