More Android Widgets

As an Android user, i like the idea of widgets. I previously made the Abstruse Goose comic widget, which i keep on my Homescreen, but i also want a decent clock widget. It turns out there are very few decent digital clocks in the market. The one i've been using up until now is called Retro Clock, which looks pretty decent, but doesn't have the date showing. So a few weeks back, i quickly coded up my own, similarly styled, but including the date. Being the nice guy that i am, i put it on the market. Within 2 hours i had requests for a 12hr version. I didn't realise that people had trouble with 24 hour time, but the demand was relatively large, so i added it. Turns out that there was a lot more demand for the clock in general than i could have ever expected.

As of 13 November 2009, there have been 7077 09 June 2010, there have been 166658 downloads of the clock. Since release i've added ways to work around people using auto task killers which kill my update service, and some minor theming support, just because people like colors.

For those of you with Android phones, just use your QR Code scanner:

Abstruse Goose Widget

An application i've been working on is available for Free on the Android Market. It's a Home Screen Widget for the Abstruse Goose Webcomic. I've just updated it today to include some better viewing capabilities. The widget allows searching through the entire Abstruse Goose feed ( which sadly is only about 4 items ), and now stores the images on the SD Card storage if available. When selecting view from the menu, it will use the SD Card image and open the image viewer, if possible, otherwise it will launch the URL if the SD Card is currently not mounted or for some reason cannot be written to. I've also created a Google Group for application feedback.

Expect more future Android development!
